SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST
The Supply Chain Specialist oversees and manages the supply chain process, from procurement and logistics to inventory management. The primary goal is to ensure the efficient and seamless flow of materials and products, meeting customer demands while minimizing costs and maximizing operational effectiveness. This role is full-time, on-site at our Des Moines, Iowa facility.
Responsibilities
- Identify reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain relationships to secure optimal terms and pricing.
- Monitor supplier performance and contract compliance, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards.
- Develop and implement effective inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and reduce stockouts or overstocks.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics activities, including arranging shipments, managing freight costs, and tracking delivery schedules.
- Work closely with carriers and freight forwarders to optimize delivery routes and transit times.
- Conduct regular inventory analysis to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and recommend appropriate action.
- Adjust inventory plans accordingly to meet changing demand patterns and seasonal fluctuations.
- Identify inefficiencies in the supply chain process and propose and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Streamline processes for order processing, procurement, and demand fulfillment to increase productivity and meet customer expectations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to supply chain operations.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
- Meets all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements; participate in food safety meetings as required.
- Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture and follows all safety policies, procedures, and regulations; identifies and communicates workplace hazards, and corrects or seeks assistance to correct unsafe actions or conditions; participates in safety meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
- Three years of proven experience in a supply chain-related role.
- Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, logistics, and warehousing in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in using supply chain management software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, inventory management software, SQL or other reporting tools).
- Experience maintaining and understanding ERP data (e.g., Bills of Material, Item Masters, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Professional certifications such as APICS (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) or CSCMP are advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Well-organized and skilled in time management, prioritization, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.
FORKLIFT OPERATOR
This role involves general warehouse duties and forklift operation, ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations. This is a regular, full-time position with an assigned shift located onsite.
Responsibilities
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Safely operates a variety of lift trucks, including clamp trucks and cherry pickers, to transport goods within the warehouse.
- Loads and unloads products from trailers, containers, or shelves, using warehouse management systems to ensure accurate inventory management.
- Conducts order picking and shipping and receiving tasks as needed; use scanner guns and print labels for proper identification of incoming and outgoing products.
- Conducts thorough inspections of the warehouse and lift trucks to identify any potential safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Maintains a clean and organized warehouse environment, adhering to all safety and quality standards.
- Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture and follows all safety policies, procedures and regulations; identify and communicates workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions; participates in safety meetings as required.
- Meets all GMP, SQF, and safety requirements; participate in food and safety meetings.
- Assists all other departments as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- One+ year of warehouse experience as a forklift operator.
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate (written/verbal) details regarding bills of lading, delivery instructions, and shipping instructions.
- Data entry and experience with inventory management systems; experience with scan guns and understanding of inventory transactions.
- Forklift license or ability to get upon hire.
- The ability to be available for work daily and extended hours as necessary.
